MÉTÉO CONSULT chose Actus Digital’s reliable, automated platform to replace the compliance infrastructure for its continuous 24/7 broadcast network, run by a fast paced on-air team.

Actus METEO CONSULT2

Private meteorological company MÉTÉO CONSULT in France, part of the Figaro Group, manages several services, including La Chaîne Météo network, broadcast 24/7 on Canal+. It is also responsible for a number of websites (lachainemeteo.com, meteoconsult.com, nautisme.com), numerous mobile applications (iOS and Android), as well as an interactive voice service.

Running a continuously updated 24/7 broadcast network with a fast, efficient technical and on-air team, La Chaîne Météo needed a reliable, automated solution to replace its legacy 15-year-old standard-definition compliance logging system. They acquired and successfully deployed the Actus Digital platform for the job. This new system has been integrated directly into the network's Active Directory to connect securely with internal servers, and utilises APIs for automated media extractions.

Active Directory is a database and set of services from Microsoft that connect users with the network resources they need to complete tasks. The database (or directory) contains key information about the network environment, computers in use, plus lists of users’ accounts, personal details, passwords and permissions. The services control activity across the IT environment, especially authenticating personal identities and authorisation – allowing access only to the intended data.

With the Actus Digital platform now operational, La Chaîne Météo will be using it to help fulfill its mandatory compliance recording requirements. Its broadcast compliance software handles recording, logging and media monitoring but also has workflow tools for QoE analysis, content monetization options, repurposing content for social media and the web applications and AI tools to improve efficiency and automation.

Also, because extracting, recording and monitoring closed captions, subtitles and teletext from logged output is a key requirement for compliance and maintaining QoE, the Actus QA Compliance Logger extracts all of the metadata from the broadcast source, making it searchable and exportable.

The platform now includes a critical new archiving capability for the network, generating a concatenated archive. This function appends appending various files into one, automatically storing full news bulletins each time the edition is updated throughout the day.

"As a small, multi-skilled team managing a channel with continuously updated content seven days a week, we need reliable, automated systems that run smoothly behind the scenes,” said Frank Jamois, Head of TV Production at METEO CONSULT. “Actus Digital met our need to modernised our aging 15-year-old infrastructure and gives us a robust solution not only for mandatory compliance recording but also for the automatic archiving of our daily news bulletins, which we previously did not have."

Ariel Shukroun, Sales Director at Actus Digital said, "We are thrilled that our platform was chosen by a specialised, highly efficient network like La Chaîne Météo. The Actus Intelligent Monitoring Platform is designed to go beyond basic compliance, giving lean production teams the automation, API integration, and reliability they need to focus on content creation rather than technical troubleshooting. We look forward to supporting La Chaîne Météo for years to come." actusdigital.com
