Sony RXS Connection License directly transfers native files from Sony cameras to production via the LiveU EcoSystem,, simplifying IP-based newsgathering and live broadcast workflows.

LiveU has expanded its collaboration with Sony by integrating support for Sony's file-based workflow technology, including cameras, across the LiveU EcoSystem. In particular, LiveU is making the Sony RXS Connection License part of its portfolio.
This license allows direct file transmission from compatible Sony cameras to its PWA-RXS application via LiveU field units. Serving as an on-premises gateway, PWA-RXS moves camera content straight into production, receiving camera‑native files as shot, and preserving the key metadata such as timecode and GPS.
As well as supporting field transmitters, including Sony’s PDT‑FP1 and LiveU’s units, PWA‑RXS can ingest IP streams from cameras using protocols such as SRT. Once received, files can be automatically distributed to several different destinations.
Familiar Workflows
An advantage of this license is that any supported LiveU unit, including the compact LU300S transmitter, can be connected to a Sony camera to set up direct file transmission into existing production environments. Meanwhile, familiar broadcast workflows are preserved and extended with cellular bonding and IP-based newsgathering capabilities.
This complements the dedicated LiveU TX1 field transmission unit announced in September at IBC 2025 specifically for Sony's professional camera range and workflow, supporting fast, reliable bonded file transfer directly from the camera. It especially suits the new PXW-Z300 XDCAM handheld AI-supported camcorder, which was launched at that time.
Broadcast users can transfer files from the camera to the unit at high speed, transmitting stored files via LiveU’s LRT (LiveU Reliable Transport) protocol using multiple bonded connections to increase video performance and reliability.

Speed and Resilience
Both the direct file workflow and the TX1 were demonstrated for the first time at the 2026 NAB Show. All together, these devices, cameras and workflows target broadcasters that need to deliver files from the camera in the field, back to a TV station quickly and resiliently.
"This expanded relationship with Sony simplifies field production and extends our EcoSystem beyond live to cover file-based workflows that are critical to our customers," said Gideon Gilboa, Chief Product Officer, LiveU. "Following the TX1 collaboration, we are now extending integration across all LiveU's units. With this choice, users can opt for a dedicated LiveU TX1 field transmission unit with direct mounting on Sony's cameras or add a license to an existing LiveU unit to run a file-based workflow with Sony's PWA-RXS in parallel to their live production – buying extra field units is unnecessary.
Open EcoSystem
"We strongly believe in an open EcoSystem that can support multiple vendors and formats, working together. By joining Sony's file-based workflow with LiveU's resilient IP contribution, news teams can go live and transfer high-resolution files from the same device. Using their existing LiveU infrastructure, deployments can be scaled as needed. It also helps them move to digital-first production by reducing manual file handling, speeding up delivery from the field, and simplifying both live and file-based workflows."
"Newsrooms are operating in increasingly dynamic environments, where speed, reliability and automation are critical," said Ryoichi Sakuragi, Head of News Solution Business, Sony Corporation. "Working with partners is key to supporting diverse news workflow requirements, and our collaboration with LiveU plays an important role in this effort, ensuring that content captured in the field with Sony's cameras moves quickly, securely and reliably into the production process." www.liveu.tv
