Avid has integrated its MediaCentral platform and Wolftech News into a single newsroom system that supports collaboration with a story-centric workflow designed to handle multi-platform news environments. The two developers’ combined set of tools helps news teams to plan, rapidly create, publish and amplify stories in order to reach audiences where they are, whenever they are looking for news.

The system is the result of Avid’s acquisition of Wolftech in November 2024, and is now commercially available as a production-ready platform after its introduction at NAB 2025. Different from a usual newsroom computer system, it integrates with most of the common NRCS and asset management systems.

Media Production, Resource Management and AI Tools

The integrated platform includes planning, story-writing, media production and resource management functionality inside an AI-assisted environment, accessible within the MediaCentral Cloud UX web-based interface, from anywhere. Newsrooms using the system are expected to be able to focus more directly on storytelling, instead of administrative overhead, and improve the value of their content while maintaining creative control.

The Wolftech News workflow management system is designed for collaborative story development, from the earliest fact-finding stage. It helps manage stories and costs, and guide multiplatform content delivery. Its story-centric nature means distributors can reach a wider audience faster using AI-powered content distribution to digital, social and broadcast channels. MediaCentral | Publisher, a cloud-deployed service publishes breaking news and sports across digital platforms with a single click from within MediaCentral | Cloud UX.

Wolftech’s AI tools help teams and departments collaborate effectively, and gain extra value from shared stories. Tasks such as copy, share, move and link stories can be automated to prevent duplication of effort and encourage working in teams, who can also use AI to tailor story versions for publishing platforms. Other AI integrations help to find new story angles, while monitoring legal approvals for publishing.

A booking module inside the Wolftech News planning tool can access, assign and optimise the allocation of resources to stories, quickly. Furthermore, CuttingRoom editing software has already been integrated into Wolftech News, updating its web-based editor with voice-over recording, editing clips in progress, graphics and effects, and tools to publish to various platforms.

Centralised Communications

Wolftech News also centralises communication related to stories, events or resource bookings so that communication and context is accessible where needed within each story or booking. For working in the field, all of this functionality is available in Wolftech's native mobile app called Wolftech Go - uploading material, contributing to newsgathering and story planning. Its mobile tools connect newsroom operations in real-time and its interface is in sync with the web client.

For users concerned with compromising integrity, the platform has AI tools like Factiverse, Reality Defender and C2PA to ensure the accuracy and trustworthiness of all content, from fact-checking to detecting manipulated media.

The new, integrated MediaCentral and Wolftech News system works especially well for national and regional broadcasters and other media companies under pressure to deliver more stories, faster, across more platforms with constrained resources.

The product release is available now and will be shown in live demonstrations at IBC2025 in Amsterdam, 12-15 September. www.avid.com
