LDX 180 Series – Bringing Cinematic Depth into Media Production Workflows
The LDX 180 Series is a breakthrough camera platform designed to bring the cinematic depth of film into the fast paced world of live production. Leveraging a proprietary in-house-developed Super 35mm (S35) CMOS global shutter imager, the LDX 180 Series meets the unique technical and creative demands of modern media workflows. Following its debut at NAB 2025, the full-size LDX 180 has been joined by the compact LDX C180—unveiled publicly for the first time at IBC 2025.

While the LDX 180 is ideal for traditional setups including tripod and shoulder-mounted shooting, the LDX C180 offers unprecedented flexibility for specialty applications such as Steadicam, Spidercam, Flycam, or unmanned and remote-controlled positions. This compact form factor expands creative possibilities without compromising on image quality or connectivity. Both models support NativeIP workflows and can also connect via an XCU base station, ensuring compatibility with existing broadcast infrastructure while enabling fully networked production environments.

This unique dual-mode capability supports a seamless transition to IP-based production. At the heart of the LDX 180 Series is its cutting-edge Super 35 global shutter CMOS imager, which ensures undistorted, flicker-free images—even in high-motion scenes or when capturing LED walls in AR/VR environments. This is a critical advantage over traditional rolling shutter imagers, particularly in immersive or high-speed applications. With an ultra-high pixel count of over 50 million, the camera enables advanced oversampling for 4K and UHD production. This results in unmatched modulation depth, minimized artifacts, and natural, cinematic image quality—delivering a look traditionally associated with film, yet fully optimized for live broadcast performance. A standout innovation is its color science. The LDX 180 Series internally maps its Bayer-pattern imager output to match the colorimetry of the LDX 100 Series’ three-sensor prism design. This ensures perfect color matching across camera types, allowing seamless integration within multicam live productions without the need for post-production correction —crucial in fast-turnaround environments like sports, concerts, and live events.

This series empowers broadcasters to blend cinematic storytelling with live production speed—a concept we call “drama at the speed of live.” Cinematic moments can now be captured and aired in real time, without compromising on production efficiency or image fidelity. In addition to its imaging innovations, the LDX 180 Series includes advanced features from the LDX 100 platform: NativeIP with JPEG XS encoding/decoding, AR/VR-ready V-shift, HDR/SDR seamless workflows with 3D LUT processing, and integrated GPS/NFC capabilities for efficient asset management and tracking. The LDX 180 and LDX C180 redefine what’s possible in live production—offering flexibility, reliability, and a cinematic visual experience never before seen in real-time workflows. From the studio to the stadium, and everywhere in between, the LDX 180 Series is setting a new standard for live media production.
